12 Bottle Wine Cooler Reviews
Small Wine Cooler Technology – Thermoelectric
All of the 12-bottle wine coolers we’ve reviewed to date are thermoelectric models. Thermoelectric coolers do not use compressors, so they are considerably quieter by nature, they don’t contain CFCs (such as Freon), and they don’t vibrate.
However, thermoelectrics do have limitations – due to the way they work, they cannot attain an internal temperature less than 20 to 25 degrees (F) below the ambient temperature. Many owners who do not understand this limitation complain about their coolers not working properly. This limitation may be acceptable if the normal temperature of the room where it will be placed is maintained at less than 78 degrees F or so. If your storage location will be warmer (say, in a garage, sun room, or toasty kitchen), you’ll want to consider a wine cooler that uses the more traditional compressor technology.

Most people liked the attractive appearance, quiet operation, overall practicality, and good value of this cooler. It is a thermoelectric cooler, so is limited in its cooling capacity in a warm environment, but this is the norm for this size wine cooler. This fridge would be a very good choice in an inexpensive, 12-bottle wine cooler.

Note:
Before launching into the Haier 12-bottle wine cooler review, it should be noted that Haier currently makes at least 3 different models of 12 bottle wine cellars. The two tabletop models (HVT12xxx, where xxx is a 3-digit code signifying color, and HVUE12xxx) look very similar, but do have some differences. In addition to these countertop models, Haier also makes a tower model.
Wal-Mart sells a “Haier 12-Bottle Table Top Wine Cooler”, no model number given, which may, in fact, be a special version only marketed through Wal-Mart, or it could be the HVT.
