Sampling of owner comments about the Koolatron WC12G:
- do not provide the constant temp and proper humidity needed to mature wine
- Attractive blue light inside
- Can Not Adjust Shelving
- Great price and silent
- began to make noise at 1 yr mark, then died
Although there was one report of a cooler that died prematurely, that was the only durability complaint that we came across. Most reviewers seemed to have recently received their wine coolers, so were mostly commenting on its appearance and functionality. As a result, there were no other mentions about durability.
There were, however, several complaints that their wine cooler arrived broken. This may not be an indicator of build quality, though, since we’ve seen similar complaints about other brands and models of wine coolers that were purchased from Amazon. (We have no issue with Amazon – they more than willingly replace defective units, but they reportedly do not add sufficient packaging to some wine coolers, resulting in damage in shipment. You might want to consider buying from a shop that specializes in wine cooler/refrigerators, like WineCoolerDirect.com, however.)
Owners typically liked the Koolatron WC12G appearance, and appreciated its quiet operation. There were a few complaints about even temperature accuracy, but that’s typical of thermoelectric wine coolers across the board; if you need more precise temperature control, you’ll need to move up to a compressor-equipped wine cooler.
A few owners mentioned that the shelves are not adjustable, so you won’t be able to store non-standard bottles in this cooler.
Overall, the Koolatron WC12G is a nice 12 bottle wine cooler for the price.
Bottom line recommendation:
The Koolatron WC12G is RECOMMENDED.
